Gerber Daisy Bouquet

Every cake has a story, and this one is no exception. I designed this cake for my childhood friend’s bridal shower. The idea behind her cake was to put together a bouquet of flowers. I had never made a flower out of gum paste before, so I taught myself using some online resources and imagination (stay tuned for a future “how to make Gerber daisies” tutorial video…I’d be more than happy to help out any of you who are interested in making these beautiful flowers). After a few frustrating starts, I got the hang of it. There are about 40 Gerber daisies in this cake. Each flower took about 5-7minutes to make, and I absolutely loved making them! Every time I looked at my collection of flowers, I couldn’t help but smile.

Since the shower is in December, I chose a Gingerbread cake with vanilla frosting for the flavor. I thought the warm flavor to be perfect for a cold, winter month!
